Qualifications

Candidates who meet these criteria will be considered for the Russ McClellan Memorial Scholarship.

The Russ McClellan Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who meet the following criteria.

Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a strong academic record, demonstrated through their GPA, standardized test scores, or academic achievements.
Financial Need: Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need.
Leadership and Service: Applicants should showcase their leadership abilities and involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, or volunteer work.
Personal Statement: Candidates must submit a compelling personal statement that highlights their goals and aspirations and how they embody the values of integrity, compassion, and service exemplified by Russ McClellan.
Letter of Recommendation: Applicants must provide up to two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders who can attest to their character, academic abilities, and potential for success.
Commitment to Making a Difference: Preference will be given to students who have a demonstrated commitment to making a positive impact in their community or society at large.
Field/Area of Study: While all fields of study are eligible, special consideration may be given to applicants pursuing majors or careers aligned with Russ McClellan's interests and passions.
Resident of Simi Valley: Applicant shall be a resident of Simi Valley between the ages of 17-22 and attend a public, private, charter school, trade school, or community college within Ventura or Los Angeles Counties.
Essay: Each applicant must submit a typed autobiography of no more than 350 words describing their future life and educational goals and explaining why they are deserving of a scholarship.

REMEMBER: Application packages must be submitted NO LATER THAN March 31, 2025.
